How we rate suppliers

Every supplier profile carries two separate numbers. The PepFinder rating says what a supplier is like to buy from. The transparency score says how much it documents about testing and its business. Neither can be bought: paid listings and sponsorship are never an input.

The PepFinder rating

Nine categories, each scored out of 10, combined with the weights below. A supplier gets an overall rating only once categories worth at least 50% of the weight have enough data. Until then its profile says “Not enough data yet” rather than showing a guess.

CategoryWeightWhat it is built from
Reliability20%Whether customers say their order arrived, plus how long the website has been online, whether it names the business behind it, publishes contact details and a refund policy, and any active editorial warnings.
Product selection15%How many of the peptides we track the supplier lists, scaled down when much of the range is out of stock, plus customers' selection ratings.
Pricing and value15%Median price per mg against the median of every supplier listing the same peptide in the same currency (at least 3 comparable listings; currencies are never converted). Capped at 9/10 so the cheapest supplier is not automatically the best. Plus customers' pricing ratings.
Delivery15%The delivery time the supplier states (2 days or less scores highest), plus customers' delivery ratings and the delivery times they report.
Customer support10%How many ways customers can reach the supplier (email, phone, live chat, messaging, contact form), plus customers' support ratings.
Website experience10%Customer ratings of ordering and checkout (at least 3), or an editorial assessment. We do not rate websites automatically.
Payment options5%How many different types of payment the website shows: card, bank transfer, wallets, instalments, crypto. No single method earns or loses points by itself.
Packaging5%Customer ratings only (at least 3), or an editorial assessment.
Review sentiment5%The average overall star rating from customer reviews (at least 3).

Where each score comes from

Every category score on a profile is labelled with its source:

  • Automated data: what we read from the supplier's website and listed prices.
  • User reviews: customers' star ratings for that category, once at least 3 have rated it. Five stars equals 10/10.
  • Combined: both, blended. Reviews carry more weight as they add up; at 5 reviews they count equally with the automated data. The profile shows the split.
  • Editorial assessment: set by our editors, with a public note saying what they checked.

“Would order again” percentages and customer-reported delivery times appear after 5 answers. Pros and cons are drawn only from customer ratings, once 5 customers have rated the same part of the experience; we don't write them ourselves.

Rankings use the same scores: best rated, best value, best selection, fastest delivery, best customer service, best payment options, best website, most reviewed. Suppliers without enough data for a ranking are left out, not ranked last.

The transparency score

A separate, secondary score for readers who want the detail: what a supplier says about independent testing, whether it publishes certificates of analysis, and how open it is about the business behind it. It appears in the “Testing & transparency” section of each profile.

Criteria not yet assessed are shown as unknown, not as failures, and a score is marked provisional until most criteria have been assessed.

Independence

Suppliers can claim their profile, reply to reviews and propose corrections with evidence, which an editor checks. They cannot edit anything that feeds a score, remove a review, or pay to change a rating or ranking. Sponsored placements are always labelled.
