Cartalax is a synthetic tripeptide, alanine-glutamic acid-aspartic acid (Ala-Glu-Asp, or AED), from the series of short bioregulator peptides developed by Vladimir Khavinson’s group in St Petersburg and described by them as specific for cartilage and connective tissue. It has been studied in cultured chondrocytes, mesenchymal stem cells, skin fibroblasts and kidney cells, and in ovariectomised rats as a model of osteoporosis. The developers refer to clinical use in older people with osteoarthritis, but no controlled human trial has been published, and it is not an approved medicine. Most research peptides are sold as freeze-dried (lyophilised) powder in sealed vials, which is mixed with a diluent such as bacteriostatic water before use in the lab. Some suppliers also sell pre-mixed solutions, nasal sprays or capsules under the same name. These are different products with different stability and dosing, so compare price per mg only between the same form, and check which form a listing is before comparing it with the rest of the table.
